Wadi Rum

Oil on Panel

Jeff and Elisabeth took us to Wadi Rum in 2024.  It was amazing. Amazing scenery and wonderful people with a delightful tent type dwelling and local people who prepared and food and acted as guides.

Later they asked about a painting.  This was the one I gave them as a memory.

Framed below (and out of focus)

 Wadi Rhum - first Study

18 inches x 24 inches
Oil on Panel

I'm calling it the '1st' study however it was actually the second or third one. Looking at reference photos and my memories or this enchanting place.
Oddly for a very dry place there are prominent clouds in nearly every photo we took or that I have seen. At first the tough desert plants are not noticeable

 Granite Coast - Northern California

18" x 24"

Oil on Panel

Most of us find the coast to be beautiful and enchanting wherever natural is allowed to remain unchanged. Not an area for wading, just rich in hues and the power of the surf.

 Joshua Tree - Sonora

12" x 16"
Oil on Panel

Cactus types and the Southwest are fascinating. At times harsh conditions producing beautiful landscape and plants.
The flower ends of this yucca have been replaced by more spikey tips.

 Still Morning Stream

24 1/2 inches x 28 inches
Oil on Panel

Contrast of the warm, red sandstone and the cold mountain stream.

 Small Rocks in Snow

9" x 12"
Oil on Panel

Small winter screen with melting snow. Peaceful
